We have been on the proverbial hunt for the next дача (pronounced: dacha) for a few months now and MAN...F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-N-G-!
I am trying to wrap my head around the concept of why I do all of the searching based around the parameters I need/want, I find the listing, I contact said agent on listing, I have to ping him/her at LEAST 10 times to get a showing set up and then I am supposed to shell out FULL FEE. Are you on drugs?!
It is bad enough you want 1st month, last month, security deposit and pet deposit - usually 1-3 months BEFORE moving in (at time of application, which has a fee associated with it...paperwork of course, oh - and let's not forget the fee for the credit check!), now I pay the equivalent of one months rent to the person who unlocked the door at a time that fit THEIR schedule best so I could walk through?! Rather than use this pen to sign the check (a check for $10,000+ if you include moving costs and cleaning fees for the old place...gulp) can I tell you where to stick it? :)
- We looked at a match box in the North End
- We had a textbook bait and switch in Beacon Hill
- We were stood up in JP
- We have exchanged 45 emails (FORTY-FIVE) with a broker in Kendall about his "calendar"
- We have looked 5 blocks from our current place deeper into Tufts country for more $$ and less appeal
- We have been heckled by every Alewife-Fresh Pond :::It's too far::: (Kat shouts from the city)
And that green house, that damn green house keeps haunting me! How is it listed so many ways so many times???
I am exhausted!
Seriously people - no wonder people say, "Yea, liv'd he-ear all my life..." (my attempt at typing a Boston accent). It is damn near impossible to move!
Now, tell me about YOUR moving stories.
Did you move across the street or across the country? How was it? A breeze or a nightmare? I want to hear it!
